This section will teach you the five critical components to develop your unique radio personality. Developing a personal style can set you apart from other radio broadcasters.
Just six magic words can guarantee an insightful interview every time - no matter the setting. Our module ensures your future success by teaching you how to use those words to produce riveting interviews in any scenario.
BSMG’s licensed linguist and vocal development coach will introduce you to healthy vocal development techniques: improving your vocal hygiene, as well as your breathing, pronunciation, projection, pace, and articulation.
Successful professional broadcasters use strategies to develop their topics and interview tactics. We’ll teach you those strategies so that you have what it takes to host any talk show, be it sports, politics, religion, entertainment, or current events.
In our beginner’s guide to creating and promoting your own podcast, you will discover how to identify an in-demand topic, how to locate an audience, and how to use social media to promote your podcast. This module includes techniques for intermediate and advanced podcasters looking to improve results.
Get Trained by a Current Radio Professional in Your Area
Your BSMG curriculum is structured for students who learn best in a hands-on, one-to-one learning environment.
We initially pair you with a BSMG radio mentor, who is a working broadcaster from your area. Because your BSMG mentor works with just you, you’re guaranteed to learn what you need to know to become a radio broadcaster. You’re also certain to meet WHO you need to know to help achieve your on-air dreams in radio.
Your BSMG training is customized to meet your individual needs. Select the career track you want, and then choose the training days and times that suit your schedule when you’re ready to proceed.
Once you’re ready to proceed, we’ll connect you with a radio mentor from one of the following career tracks:
Track 1: Radio DJ
You choose the local radio station, music format, and DJ you want to work with. BSMG then arranges your initial interview.
Track 2: Talk Show Host
BSMG will connect you with a local talk show host who specializes in your preferred show format (e.g., sports, politics, news, religion).
Track 3: Newscasting
Get trained in all aspects of newscasting by a BSMG selected professional newscaster in your area.

Get noticed by program directors with a professional demo tape and resume. Your mentor will advise you on what your demo tape should include. They'll also teach you how to avoid common resume errors and omissions.
2. We Teach You How to Interview
You get one chance to make a first impression. We'll show you the Do’s and Don'ts of making your first impression a great one.
3. We Teach You How to Locate Jobs
There are two types of job postings in broadcasting: real jobs, and job postings that have already been filled but were posted to satisfy FCC regulations. We teach you the secret to finding real broadcasting jobs at organizations who want to hire someone like you.
4. We Make Personal Recommendations
You've heard that it's not just what you know but also who you know. Your mentor and BSMG have networks of influential industry contacts. Whenever jobs become available, we'll make our contacts aware of you.

Every radio station in your local area is a candidate to work with a BSMG-placed student. Rest assured, you will be placed with an experienced broadcaster who is well-connected to the broadcasting industry and your community.

You determine your training schedule so that it’s tailored to your availability. Most students go into the station anywhere from one to three times every week. Our curriculum also involves training and education that you’ll complete on the days you’re not at the station.
