Radio Broadcasting School – Frequently Asked Questions

Broadcasters & Sportscasters Mentoring Group

We place you inside the local radio station you pick, match you with a working broadcaster, and give you step-by-step training materials. Whether you choose the 6-month Essentials path, the 9-month Advanced path, or the 9 month Virtual path, you control the training days and times. Throughout the program, BSMG checks in, answers questions, and keeps your training on track.

Yes—if you have a radio station within convenient distance to you, you have a “campus.” Your classroom is the radio station and your instructor is a broadcaster on staff. No relocation required.

You start by listing 4–6 stations you’d love to work in (we’ll help).

  • We contact them and arrange an interview with a broadcaster-mentor.

  • If accepted for training and you feel the match is a good fit, that mentor and station becomes your instructor, training site, and future network hub.

Can’t decide? We’ll suggest stations with mentors known for strong teaching skills.

The fastest path is getting your foot in the door. BSMG does that for you on day one—putting you in a station, introducing you to pros, and letting the industry get to know you.

Most students choose 1–3 station visits per week. You’ll also run your own online radio show at home; each episode doubles as a “lab” assignment your mentor reviews.

Think master-apprentice. You shadow, practice, and get immediate feedback while real shows go live. Everything you learn is applied the same day.

No. Interns provide free labor for college credit and rarely touch the mic. Apprentices train for on-air or production roles with a broadcaster who treats you as a future colleague, not a go-fer.

When you’re ready to give it full commitment. We enroll students year-round, so you pick the date that fits your life.

  • Essentials Program: finish in 6 months.

Virtual Program: finish in 9 months

  • Advanced: finish in 9 months.

  • Need more time? Keep training until you master each skill—no penalties.

Many schools tout placement; few show a plan. We use a proven four-step system that integrates mentor connections, demo-reel prep, interview coaching, and direct outreach.

Best of all… Your mentor is paid a healthy bonus for helping to get you hired. We invite you to compare BSMG’s proven job placement assistance program with any broadcasting school or university in the country (including Harvard).

BSMG is an 87% faster pathway into broadcasting that’s up to 90% less expensive because we don’t run large facilities or staff. Lower overhead, greater value.
